Episode 12: Into the Woods with Blake!

Blake and Kelly dive into a shared favorite musical with Into the Woods, a beloved musical classic. We talk about the Central Park version featuring Broadway legends as well as a few Hollywood stars. 

Referencing contemporary musical theatre costuming and outdoor set design, this show is truly its own magnificent production that we spend over an hour on. Get ready for some real musical theatre nerding out.

Episode 4: Revolution on Broadway in 1923! (Indecent: With Caleb)

In this episode Caleb sees his second Arden show! 

We talk about the “play with music.” Indecent. A very queer and jewish story. (Caleb and I both being in the queer catagory. We talk about the audience, and the shows charming fourth wall breaks.)

We also discuss the thoughtfulness in the props and the actor’s roles in multiple characters.  We talk about the relavence of the Holocaust to the story’s narritive and how dangerous it can be when you start to see signs of histoy repeating itself.

Episode 3: Ahoy! Prepare to Sail the Seven Seas! (Treasure Island: with Caleb)

In this episode we talk to Caleb, a baker, who’s theatre experience was just reignited with a newfound love of improv.

We talk far more then “A little bit” about the amazing cast and their ability not just as great actors, but also as improvers and storytellers.

We talk about the audience, made of mostly children and the changes that have to be made for them. Wooden spoons as swords and 4th wall breaks all over we discuss if this breaks the immersiveness of the show.

Note: We adress Eliana Fabiyi (who plays the main character “Emily”) as “Elaina” the first time we say her name, we never do this again but we wanted to clarify because it is the first time we say her name.
